Toys for children 12-18 months. . .

It was asked of me to discuss toys that are appropriate for a 12-month old.  Before chosing a toy, I determine where a child is developmentally and what are the skills they will be working on in the coming months.  I want the toy to challenge  them to acquire new skills.  So for a 12-18 – month old child, he or she is becoming more and more active.  They are exploring his or her environment by crawling and attempting to walk, so “push and pull” toys are terrific toys to support your child’s gross motor skills.  Three toys that I would recommend are “Brillant Basics Stoll Along Walker”, “Little People:  Load n’ Go Wagon”, and “Laugh and Learn Walkers:  Shop and Learn Walker”, which can all be purchased from Fisher Price.  Also, your little one’s hands will becoming more coordinated, and they can use toy sorters with improved accuracy.  Their wrist is moving independently of his or her arm, and they are beginning to scribble.  I would recommend round thick, washable crayons.  Your little one will have a blast exploring his or her artistic abilities, and the “little Picasso” will be emerging!!!  Check out the Crayola 3ct. Washable TaDoodles Crayon Buddies, which I think will be tons of fun!!!   Also, your little one will begin to play with puzzles with knob.  The best deals for puzzles can be found in Marshalls, TJ Maxx, since they are very affordable.

If you need more suggestions, please let me know!!!

Heya, so I’m considering using Amazon because i’ve seen that they truly bought bargains on alot of items. Well here are some of my questions. Is Amazon . com safe and sound? Has anybody had any kind of problems with Amazon . com? Any identification stolen sort of issues? Does UPS mail the package or does the mail man send it in such as a large package or something like that? Is Amazon trust worthwhile with video games and such? If I bought something, and got that item damaged, what should i do? Oh and how long should it normally take to get my bundle? Thanks ahead for making the effort to read this! :D

I have had great experiences with Amazon; however, my experience is limited. I would highly suggest that you do your own independent research to verify site credibility and security.

It sounds like you’re creating problems yourself by attempting to solve this issue rather than looking at why their is often a difficulty from the initial position.

As an occupational therapist, I will carefully assess a child’s level of functioning, which impacts his or her participation in daily activities. Then I will work on a treatment plan to improve his or her ability to engage in tasks. However, you may be perceiving this as me attempting to “solve this issue”. When I come across deficits that require intervention, I will do one of two things: 1. Remediate – improve the specific problem (ie- improve hand strength) 2. Compensate – teach adaptive techniques or adaptive equipment to accomplish a task (ie – provide a reacher to a person who has limited range of motion).

Do you have any other questions?
